Matthew Yates

Matthew Yates has a strong litigation background, acting in family law and civil litigation matters out of our Byron Bay office.

 

Graduating in 2008 with degrees in Law and Commerce from the University of Queensland, Matthew was called as a solicitor in New South Wales and Queensland in 2010. He is also admitted as a barrister and solicitor in British Columbia, Canada, where he practiced as a trial lawyer for over a decade.

 

Matthew’s family law experience encompasses matrimonial property division including complex financial matters, parenting arrangements, relocation and domestic violence.

 

While he has a passion for litigation, Matthew puts his clients first and understands that their best outcome may include creative solutions outside the courtroom. His approach to family law is to provide both strong advocacy and compassionate guidance through what is often the most challenging transition in his clients’ lives.

 

In his spare time, Matthew enjoys camping and boardgames with his wife and two kids.
